Had a great time at the Vegas ACTE show. Went there with Stephen Schneiter, Todd Hopkins, and Lindsay Miller. We had so much traffic at our booth on Friday that the four of us were completely swamped. That was a lot of fun. I met a lot of new people, and saw some old friends, too. Judith Sams, State Specialist. Business and Information Technology for the State of Virginia, stopped by. We had conducted a focus group with a group of her best instructors in Richmond, Virginia, and Judith was gracious enough to say good things about us.

TechieCrossing just published an article I was able to write with the help of Lindsay Miller, our General Manager.
We were able to conduct a survey of CIOs, and the the article explains why such a seemingly simple step - end user security training - is often overlooked, postponed, or generally just ignored.
The article is at: http://www.techiecrossing.com/article/index.php?id=370125.
I have to say that the picture of the hard disk is more attractive than my picture in the article . . .
Enjoy!

Let's talk database design, shall we? Over the past year, we've experienced significant demand for our CIW Database Specialist courseware and certification. I thought maybe you'd want to know what we're planning in the face of this demand.
Exam updates
For the most part, the exam is right where it needs to be. However, a few changes are necessary:

Perhaps the most exciting thing about Firefox is that it demonstrates CIW's intent to turn mere Internet consumers into Internet producers. While any 13-year old can dazzle an adult with true browser prowess, fewer people know how to turn Firefox into a true enterprise-level development environment. Eric Meyer, one of the fathers of CSS, never uses Adobe or Microsoft software to develop or design.

I'll be heading to Vegas for the ACTE 2007 ACTE Convention and Career Tech Expo. I'll be there with an entire cadre of fellow CIW workers. Stephen Schneiter, our Certification Specialist, will be there, along with Lindsay Miller, General Manager of VCampus, the company that owns CIW. Todd Hopkins, Vice President of Publishing, is also attending - he was going to do a road trip, but thought better of it.

I had a great time back in October while I was in Versailles, Kentucky. That's right - not Versailles France. Versailles Kentucky. Very cool place; it was peaceful. And, I even got to eat at a Waffle House - one of my life's ambitions when it comes to the South (I visited a Piggly Wiggly in Georgia one time, but that's another story).

This past summer, I spent some time in Scotland. Well, China, Germany, Canada, and Florida, too, if you really want to get technical. But while I was in Scotland, I was able to spend some time with Further Education (i.e., community college) instructors and talk shop. I found them interested in much the same thing that their fellow instructors in Virginia, Florida, and Washington State wanted:
